At VRS Communities, volunteers play a powerful role in helping residents feel connected, supported, and valued. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, meet new people, and gain real‑world experience, volunteering with VRS is a chance to do all of that — and more.

Our volunteers support seniors and persons with disabilities across our sites, bringing warmth, companionship, creativity, and a youthful spark to daily life. When you volunteer with us, you’re joining a mission‑driven team that believes in community, dignity, and belonging.

What You’ll Get to Do

Build Real Connections

• Spend quality time with clients 1:1 (always with staff around)
• Chat, share stories, enjoy conversation
• Offer friendship and social connection

Bring Energy and Fun Into Someone’s Day

• Help with recreation and leisure activities
• Join in crafts, music, games, walks, and social programs
• Support group activities and community events

Learn by Shadowing Staff 

• Get exposure to person‑centered care in action
• Observe day‑to‑day support and care routines
• Learn communication and engagement approaches used in community living (Great for students exploring social work, nursing, healthcare, community support work, recreation therapy, and more.)

Basic Requirements

To keep everyone safe and supported:

• Volunteers complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC)
• Complete shift logs to keep track of total hours volunteered and experiences gained
• Work only in the presence of staff
